Thick sludge around the filler cap would indicate that the engine has been running too cold. The place to look for water in the oil bubbles on the dipstick, but the garage should be able to do a gas sniffer test on the coolant top up bottle. Your level dropping once the engine was hot could just be an air lock expelled. £89.99- Citroen C4 Picasso, London. 7 hours ago. £80.00- Citroen C4 Cactus, Oldham. 8 hours ago Citroen Oil Change. Citroen Mobile Mechanic. Citroen Timing Chain. I bought a (2007) C4 Grand Picasso in April last year and love it!! But in the last week or so it hasn't been engaging gear properly. It intermittently doesn't engage reverse and has started doing it in forward gears too. It doesn't do it all the time and seems to take a few attempts to engage the gear. Any ideas? I did exactly the same on my previous 2014 C4 Picasso, doing exactly the same thing too. I left a drop link connected, and knocked the suspension strut, so it pulled itself toward the back of the car (because of the suspension spring) and pulled out the driveshaft and dropping a large puddle of oil. You'll only need 1L bottle at most. Undo this and let the oil drain out completely. Then, on the top of the gearbox there is a breather tube, remove the air box too get to it, you have to put the oil back in the gearbox through this tube, easiest way I found was using a small funnel in the end of the tube and carefully pouring the oil in. Gearbox holds 2.1 litres of oil. If you have spotted an oil stain on the ground, you will need to verify that this leak is in truth originating from the gearbox of your Citroen Grand C4 Picasso. To accomplish this, you will need to go under your car and follow the oil leak. If it is transmission oil, it must be originating from your gearbox sump or an adjacent room. The problem is the 'service' light comes on the dashboard - the gearbox wont change gear - then it bangs into 3rd - and wont change - I then stop turn the engine off then back on again and it seems to work fine - until the next journey and it will happen again - this doesn't happen on every journey. Hope someone can help On your right center of the tranny, there should be two big bolts I believe a 17mm one on the bottom left the other top right of the other. The bottom left is the drain plug the top right is where you fill it. If you want to make things easier you can remove the air cleaner and the air cleaner housing then unscrew the sensor on top of the Citroen Xsara Picasso - Gearbox oil leak near driveshaft - jeffurs1705 : Hi Chris , This is so spooky, The same has just happend to us , Pic went in for a banging on the suppension, Fault broken spring, Garage suugested we replace both springs and drop arms, Ok, Rang back later to tell us the shocker had gone replaced just one, Got the car back from the garage , now banging on the nearside GPGzw1.
